The Importance of Preventive Care
Routine exams are key to keeping your pet in good health, both now and in the long-term.
Alongside regular vaccinations, parasite prevention and good nutrition, routine exams are your pet's best chance at excellent lifelong health and general wellbeing.
During a routine checkup, our vets can prevent health issues from developing or catch them early and at their most treatable.
What to Expect During Your Pet's Physical
Our vets will thoroughly examine your pet to get a picture of their overall health and wellbeing. A routine exam includes the following elements:
General Condition
Your pet's general condition and behaviour can provide clues for our vets about their health. How your companion stands and walks, how alert they are, and their weight can all be important indicators of their overall health.
Coat & Skin
Our vets will check your pet's skin and coat for signs of problems including dryness, lumps, excessive oiliness, dandruff, bumps, or unnatural hair loss.
Face & Head
Your pet’s ears, nose, and eyes will also be checked for any abnormalities. We will also check their mouth for any oral health problems such as plaque buildup or gum disease.
Internal Health
Your pet's heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure, and pulse are key to your pet's heart health. Our vets will test all of these to make sure they are normal. We will also examine your pet's lungs for signs of problems with their breathing.
Lymph nodes will be examined for pain or swelling as well as the abdomen to ensure your companion's internal organs are all feeling normal and that they aren't showing signs of discomfort.
Puppies & Kittens
In the first few weeks of a puppy and kitten's life, they need proper medical attention to get them started on the path to lifelong health.
We'll give your new best friend a complete physical examination, deworming medications, and vaccinations. If there is a concern, we will also test for intestinal parasites. We'll also make sure you get a puppy or kitten kit filled with educational materials to help you care for your new companion.

Once your pet's initial appointment is complete, you'll return periodically for his or her required booster shots.
Seniors
Senior pets are living longer than ever thanks to advances in veterinary care and pet nutrition.
As your pet ages, regular examinations become increasingly crucial to ensure their continuing health and longevity.
On top of routine exams we perform on all adult pets, we ensure that senior pets receive special attention for age-related conditions like decreased vision or joint pain. We will also conduct extra lab tests to get the most information possible about your aging pet's health.
Vaccinations & Prevention
Over the course of your pet's physical examinations, your vet will also check in to see if they require preventative care or if they are due for routine vaccinations.
